Sandfire recognises that water is a precious and finite resource which holds significant social, cultural, environmental, and economic value. Water is also an essential component for the success of our activities; including exploration drilling, mining and processing our copper concentrate, dust suppression, drinking water, and use in our accommodation camps.
Water stewardship is a strategic priority for the business. We intend to treat water as a precious resource and take a catchment-based approach to managing surface and groundwater. We aim to manage water resources and mitigate impacts that would result in the inability to sustain current and future demands.
Our objectives are to:
- Promote water stewardship across the business,
- Manage water as a valuable asset,
- Build stakeholder trust towards our water management practices, and
- Participate in collective action to support sustainable water resources.
