Meet Maria Cinta Ramos,
Cinta Ramos is a Truck Operator at our MATSA Copper Operations in south-western Spain.
Cinta has lived locally within the Huelva region since she was a child, and initially never saw herself working within the mining industry.
“It is true that it (the mining industry) was a world which made me very curious. I remember watching the sunset from the Confesionarios Mine and wondering what it would be like within that mine – however I would never have thought life would lead me here.” Cinta said.
“I never would have imagined it, but I couldn’t be happier.”
Cinta originally began her career working as an administrative assistant before progressing into one of her passions – coaching. When an opportunity came up at Sandfire’s MATSA Copper Operations, Cinta decided to secure her truck driver’s license and apply for the role. Since then, she has never looked back.
“Working inside the mine is so different to what I have always known. I haven’t been able to find words to define how it makes me feel to work there, but it’s indescribable, I love it!”
Cinta remains passionate about coaching and says that she applies her knowledge to her current role with Sandfire MATSA and looks to empower her colleagues through coaching techniques she’s learnt.
“I work a lot on what we call in coaching the triad: focus, meaning and action.” Cinta said.
“I try to keep all five senses with me when I’m in the truck. I’m in the habit of looking at what we call the ‘mental map’ and I do this for both my work and outside life.
“When it comes to my colleagues, I like to find opportunities to ask questions which empower them.”
