Collaboration a key theme at the 2026 Mining Indaba

Sandfire was proud to participate in Investing in African Mining Indaba, held earlier this week (9-12 February) in Cape Town, South Africa.

Under the theme, Stronger Together – Progress Through Partnerships, the conference program highlighted the importance of collaboration in unlocking responsible investment, strengthening critical mineral supply chains, and ensuring mining delivers long-term value for host countries and communities – priorities that strongly align with Sandfire’s approach.

Key conversations centred on critical minerals for the energy transition, sustainable mining practices, policy certainty, infrastructure development, and building resilient partnerships between governments, industry and communities.

Brendan Harris, our Chief Executive Officer, joined a panel of industry leaders and shared how Sandfire is contributing to economic growth and empowering communities in Botswana.

He told delegates that “our approach to local development and empowerment has four pillars, and I can tell you sustainability is not one of them. If you are really serious, sustainability should not be a pillar, but should underpin everything you do.”

Our recently appointed Botswana Asset President, Jamie Caratti, also participated at Indaba, through the Botswana Country Showcase, and was part of our team at the Australian High Commission reception where we enjoyed reconnecting with many of our key stakeholders.
