Sandfire’s Botswana Exploration team was a proud sponsor of Ghanzi football team “The 3 Lions” and their support has had a big impact on players and supporters this season.
Through Sandfire’s sponsorship, team members received essential resources and equipment to help them take to the field, including first aid supplies, footballs and football boots for players.
Despite tough competition, The 3 Lions had a highly successful season, taking out the top spot in the Ghanzi Regional Football Association (GRFA) Men’s League Championship. As a result, The 3 Lions were invited to represent their region in the First Division Southwestern Block promotional playoffs held in Tsabong in May 2026.
The team gave it their all and took the game down to the wire, missing out on a win by a solitary goal. The 3 Lions have qualified for the Orange FA Cup next year, where our teams in Botswana are looking forward to cheering them on.
Sandfire’s support for The 3 Lions team and their players was greatly appreciated in the local community.
