Sandfire recently welcomed representatives from China Copper Corporation, one of its largest copper concentrate customers, to its Motheo Copper Operations in Botswana.
Headquartered in Beijing, China Copper Corporation manages Chinalco’s copper critical resource supply chain, including mining, ore processing, smelting and refining. The company purchases approximately 5 million tonnes of copper concentrate annually and produces around 1.7 million tonnes of copper cathode through its core public subsidiary, Yunnan Copper Industry Co.
The visit provided an opportunity for China Copper representatives to gain a deeper understanding of Motheo’s operations and connect with some of the team in Botswana.
During the visit, representatives toured the T3 open pit and processing plant, gaining a behind-the-scenes view of Motheo’s operations. They also visited the Concentrate Shed, where they observed firsthand the logistics involved in outbound distribution and stockpile management.
